Jermaine Barnes officially signs two-year deal with TLG Bulldogs Troisdorf

Troisdorfer Leichtathletik Gemeinschaft signed experienced 36-year old swingman Jermaine Barnes (193-G/F-83, college: Point, GA) for at least two seasons. Barnes just played with the GIE Maile Matrix in the 2020 FIBA United Cup in Athens, Greece. This last season, Barnes played with the Tonga National Team in the Dominican league where in four Copa Mitchell Cup games he was fourth best scorer with an impressive 19.8ppg. He also averaged 7.5rpg (#4 in the league), 7.0apg (#1) and 1.3spg.

"Here in Troisdorf we are ready to make the next steps," said Head Coach Roger Sieger. "Barnes is 100% professional with over 13 years of overseas experience. He is totally committed to our goals for the next few seasons as a player. We believe that when Jermaine is focused and in shape he is a big time player. We are excited that he is a Bulldog."

The list of past achievements for Barnes is quite long including leading his team to win the Mediterranean Cup in 2019. He was also voted Eurobasket.com All-Mediterranean Cup 1st Team in 2019 as he led the event in scoring. In just 4 games with Chabibiah Sporting Cup (Lebanon): Score-1 (32.0ppg), Reb-4 (7.3rpg), Assists-4 (4.0apg), 1.0spg, FGP: 55.4%, 3FG: 3- (40.8%), FT: 70.0%.

"For me this is what I need," said Barnes. "Life is about challenges and goals. The Bulldogs have goals to be a Pro B club in a few years so when they presented me with their ideas, I was excited about the project and helping the club grow. I want to say I had a lot to do with that change on the court and off. Since I grew up watching Michael Jordan, I saw how he was a great player that always worked on and off the floor. This project is more than just about our on the court performance. Business is very important to me and being able to partner with the organization and build something special will be my greatest project yet.

Barnes is quite the experienced player, having played in fourteen different countries on five different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America, Australia and of course North America). He has played professionally in Costa Rica (Liberia), Cyprus (Yenicami), Dominican Republic (Titans Miramar & Pueblo Nuevo), Japan (Saitama), Lebanon (Chabibeh Sporting Club), Mexico (Frayles de Guasave), Saudi Arabia (Al Ahli Jeddah), Taiwan (US NT), Uruguay (Universatlato), NBA (Minnesota Timberwolves), Spain (Boet) and Tonga (Tonga NT).

He is also no stranger to the big stage. Representing his National Team (USA) at the FIBA William Jones Cup in Taiwan years ago, his stats speak for themselves. In 9 games: 12.0ppg, Reb-4 (7.3rpg), Assists-4 (4.0apg), 1.0spg, FGP: 55.4%, 3FG: 3- (40.8%), FT: 70.0%. He was later named AsiaBasket.com All-FIBA William Jones Cup Team along with a silver medal. Barnes' performance would ultimately lead to him signing a Non Guaranteed NBA Contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

While Barnes has proven time and time again that he can rise to any occasion, he is close to retirement age as a player. It's very possible he may end his playing career in Germany.

Barnes is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered the top international summer league on the market. He attended Point University, GA until 2006 and it is his 14th (!!!) season as a professional player.

Set the Emperors Cup All-Japan Tournament scoring record with 63 point vs. Toyama Grouses...In 2011 Barnes was named Usbasket.com All-United States Guard of the Year along with being spotlighted in SLAM Magazine......2014 Barnes was named the Decades Top Guard by Usbasket.com. Signed a Non Guaranteed NBA Contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Was waived at training camp.
